All Hermann Oak leathers see vegetable tannins directly after the they leave the beam house where the hair and salts are removed from the hides.  The difference here is that our leathers are not pickled before they see the tannins.  This results in a firmer piece of leather that cuts smooth because of the lack of salts present from the pickling process used by other vegetable tanned leathers. 

In the beam house process the grain enamel is left on the hides rather than being removed by harsh chemical that push the leather.  That remaining enamel is largely responsible for why so many leather workers have come to trust Hermann Oak for its even consistent dyeing and oiling as well as the crisp stamping and extreme burnishing that is able to be produced by both beginners and professional leather workers.

For holster making, this leather is void of chrome salts which would tarnish metal and molds well with sharp definition, drying to a firm, long-lasting shape. Excellent for molding, embossing, dying, and oiling.
